Dr. Matthew Thacker is a proud Las Vegas native and nationally recognized leader in dentistry, known for his commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centered care, and service to the community. He has served as the Dean of Clinical Education and Patient Care at Roseman University of Health Sciences and as the Residency Director for the top  Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program in the country. In these roles, Dr. Thacker not only oversaw clinical operations and curriculum development but also actively teaches and mentors other dentists—both residents and licensed professionals—on advanced techniques in comprehensive care, cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, dental implantology, and endodontics.

History & 
Education

A graduate of Coronado High School in Henderson, Dr. Thacker went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in Integrative Physiology and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating top of his class. After completing dental school, he proudly served as a Fleet Marine Force dental officer in the U.S. Navy, where he gained extensive experience in comprehensive dentistry, clinic leadership, and surgical care—treating everyone from Marines to military working dogs.

As a clinician and lifelong learner, Dr. Thacker has cultivated a specialty in advanced surgical and restorative dental implant procedures. He currently serves as the implantologist for several private practices across the Las Vegas Valley, providing cutting-edge treatment to patients in need of full-scope implant care. 
 

He is also a published author and global key opinion leader (KOL) for several dental implant companies, speaking internationally on innovations in implantology, digital dentistry, and interdisciplinary care.

Public Service

In addition to his work in private practice and academia, Dr. Thacker is a dedicated public servant. He serves as an expert consultant to the Nevada Board of Dental Examiners, helping to review patient complaints and uphold professional standards of care across the state. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Adopt-a-Vet Dental Program and volunteers with numerous organizations including the Special Olympics, Project Homeless, Give Kids a Smile, and the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation.

Dr. Thacker is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Education Association, the Nevada Dental Association, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Personal Life

When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Thacker enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Angelica Bustos, and their two beloved dogs, Puka and Boba. His hobbies include photography, woodworking, ice hockey, and traveling—often finding inspiration in the dental practices of cultures around the world.
